Which spinning top should you choose? Our GraviTrax spinning tops compared
Funnel or snail, one, two, three or six entries: all five of our GraviTrax-compatible spinning tops send the marble swirling before releasing it, but they are not used in the same way. This comparison helps you choose the spinning top (also known as the mega spinning top) that suits your track, the space you have and the age of the builders.
They all sit on the GraviTrax or GraviTrax PRO base plate, come with their support and are printed to order near Grenoble, in bio-based PLA. A starter set is needed to play; the GraviTrax Junior range is not compatible.

Which spinning top for which use?
For a first spinning top: the 1-entry model
The 1-entry funnel spinning top is the easiest to add: a rail comes in, the marble swirls, then it drops out at the bottom. It is also the one our customers have reviewed the most. Ideal for discovering the spinning-top effect, or as a first gift.
To bring two tracks together: the 2-entry model
With the 2-entry funnel spinning top, two rails meet in the same funnel: the marbles spin together before moving on. For the same footprint as the 1-entry model, your track gains a junction.
For a different effect: the snail spinning top
The 2-entry snail spinning top replaces the funnel with a spiral path: the marble slows down in a hypnotic movement before being released. A good addition if you already own a funnel spinning top.
For big tracks: the 3-entry and 6-entry models
The more entries there are, the more tracks you can bring to the same point. The 3-entry funnel spinning top (14 × 14 cm) multiplies the connections; the 6-entry funnel spinning top (17 × 17 cm) offers the most combinations and becomes the heart of a large track. Plan for the space, and for enough rails to feed it.
If you are short of space
The 1-entry, the 2-entry and the snail fit in a 12 cm square. The 3-entry needs 14 cm, the 6-entry 17 cm.
What about the track booklets?
Our building booklets are track plans in PDF format, to download: nothing is posted and no parts are supplied. Each one requires one or more specific spinning tops:
- tracks A and B: 1-entry spinning top;
- tracks C and D: 2-entry spinning top and 3-entry spinning top;
- tracks E, F and G: 3-entry spinning top;
- tracks H and I: 6-entry spinning top;
- the complete booklet, tracks A to I brings all the plans together, for less than the four booklets bought separately.

Questions about spinning tops
Do the spinning tops work with GraviTrax PRO?
Yes. All five spinning tops are compatible with GraviTrax and GraviTrax PRO marble runs. They are not compatible with the GraviTrax Junior range, which uses a different system. Our compatibility guide explains why.
Which marbles should I use?
The original marbles from your starter set work. We also offer a set of 5 coloured marbles if you want more of them.
Can I combine several spinning tops in the same track?
Yes: that is the whole idea of tracks C and D, which use the 2-entry spinning top and the 3-entry spinning top in the same track. You can also mix a funnel spinning top and the snail to compare the two effects.
Are there spinning tops at a reduced price?
Sometimes: spinning tops with a slight printing flaw on their underside, invisible during play, are offered at a reduced price in the clearance category. They work exactly like the others.
